About H & A Waste Services Ltd

H & A Waste Services Ltd began back in 1995 where there was a demand for professional clinical waste collections to be made from doctors, dentists, vets and nursing homes following the withdrawal of this type of service by many borough and city councils because of increased legislation.

Back then, H & A had one van driven by the present Managing Director, invoicing was dealt with from a front room and after securing a contract with Plymouth City Council the first year's turnover was £93,000. Incidentally, we still have a contract with Plymouth City Council.

The expansion was fairly rapid as more and more customers requiring a reliable and competitive service for the disposal of clinical wastes began to hear about our customer care and reliability.

Within 5 years, H & A were making collections from over 2000 different premises every week. Around this time, enquiries about sanitary waste and washroom related hygiene products intensified, leading us to develop our washroom hygiene division. This division specialises in all washroom products such as sanitary disposal units, vending machines, hand dryers, soap dispensers and water management systems, etc.

H & A have contracts in place at airports, councils, civil buildings, schools and colleges throughout the South West. In this division, our service field operatives are in the main female, as we feel this to be more appropriate.

In 2005, there was a vast increase of enquiries from our customers wanting a 'one stop shop' for all of their waste disposal needs. With this in mind, H & A purchased the first of 7 mobile compaction vehicles (more commonly known as dust carts), thus expanding our services by offering both our existing and potential new customers a trade bag and a trade wheelie bin service together with recycling of cardboard, glass and cans. In 2007, with over 30 collection vehicles in the fleet, H & A felt the necessity to bring all of our service/repairs and M.O.T's in-house, so we purchased a Commercial Vehicle repair business. This allows us to keep all of our own vehicles in tip top condition, increasing reliability, and also to offer our vehicle repair services to other businesses.

In conclusion, H & A now turnover in excess of £4,000,000 per annum, employ over 50 dedicated and reliable staff and operate out of 5 different service centres throughout the South West with coverage in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Avon and Wiltshire.
